Die Winterreise is a photographic essay about the lives of the inhabitants of a men-only shelter.
The particularity of this facility is that it also accommodates men with serious alcohol problems: instead of condemning their addiction, medical and nursing care as well as pedagogical support are offered here. What these people often have in common is their experience of life on the street: some have lost their homes for various reasons for a short time, others have lived on the street for years.
At the same time I discovered Schubert's "Winter's Journey", whose atmosphere was very much reflected in the series.

In these Lieder, based on Wilhelm Müller's poems, the figure of the "Wanderer" goes through the cycle of life: in the cold winter nights he wanders in search of shelter, lonely through the storms of life. He finds solace in the few moments in which he dreams of the blossoming of the seasons.
